The Arthurian Saga: Golden Eagle - Clothar/Lance Thrower and The Eagle/
When Metamorphosis was published, ending my original series of Arthurian tales, I immediately found myself being bombarded with complaints by all kinds of outraged but loyal fans. I couldn't just leave them hanging there, they said; couldn't just stammer "That's all, Folks," like Porky Pig.
I was prepared to be adamant and bloody minded about the whole thing until my publisher asked me, mildly, if I was really sure that I had not developed some thoughts of my own on where the story might logically have gone after my suggested ending at the conclusion of the "Dream of Eagles/Camulod Chronicles" series. And lo, when I thought about it dispassionately from that viewpoint, I found that I did, in fact, have firm opinions on what might then have taken place, so I decided to explore a continuation to my saga, and sure enough, once I got into the story, I found that I had enough material to fill two volumes easily, and I was not really surprised, at that point. And so the conclusion to the Dream of Eagles/Camulod Chronicles series--a story I had never intended to write since I first started thinking about the series--became a "miniseries", a pair of books under the single title "The Golden Eagle".
